A Powerful Keynote
This keynote unpacks fear in a way that leaves audiences ready to combat any obstacle that stands in their way of success.
This is a speaker who’s presence and message stays with you long after he leaves the stage, everyone needs a dose of Mark Mathews."
Alison Hill, CEO
Riding the world's biggest waves takes a great deal of courage and resilience.
When applied, these principles allow us to live a life without the controlling limitations of fear, a life on our own terms, a LIFE BEYOND FEAR. Here's how it works...
BUT THE COURAGE AND RESILIENCE IT TAKES TO SURF BIG WAVES IS NOT RESERVED FOR A LIMITED NUMBER OF ACTION SPORTS ATHLETES AND ADRENALINE JUNKIES. IT'S AVAILABLE FOR ANYONE.
OUT THE BACK
The Courage to Commit
Mathews did not start riding big waves overnight. He explains his secrets to creating unwavering motivation and how he used it to overcome his crippling childhood fear of the ocean and become one of the best big wave surfers in the world. "You have to want it more than you fear it!"
Surviving the Impact Zone
Mark knows all too well the crippling effects of long term stress and anxiety. While on a Red Bull production in Australia, fifteen feet in front of a cliff in cold, shark infested waters, Mark wiped out and was crushed into a reef by a mountain of water. Terror engulfed every inch of his being. After a helicopter ride to the nearest hospital for emergency surgery Mark was told he would never surf again.
THE NEXT WAVE
Capitalising on the Next Wave of Opportunities
Using all his skills and knowledge of how to build motivation, manage stress and overcome adversity, Mark sets out on a 3 year rehabilitation journey to prove the doctors wrong. And in 2019 he pulls off the comeback that no one thought possible.
Adapt to Stress
There are two main components to adapting to change and the stress that comes with it. “Embrace And Upgrade” and “Rest And Recover.” Through these two components we can learn how to avoid the “crash and burn” cycle by converting fear-based habits to positive lifestyle patterns.
Explore the scientific benefits of vision, meaning and gratitude. And the counter intuitive techniques that disrupt negative mental perceptions and increase innovation, drive and performance.
Perform When it Counts
In the ocean Mark must always assume that conditions can–and will– unexpectedly change, violently and fast. Mark and his team must stay hypersensitive to change, continually re-- assessing conditions and refocusing goals and strategies. With this Agility, Mark and his team can overcome all challenges and succeed in surfing the worlds biggest waves.
Like no other. No one comes close. I have been speaking across the globe for over a decade and never have I been so moved or inspired by a speaker as I was with Mark Mathews.
